Why YT Nursing Academy ?

Bhutan’s healthcare system has made significant progress over the years, with increased life expectancy, reduced infant mortality rates, and a rise in overall health standards. However, challenges remain, particularly in the availability of qualified healthcare professionals, especially nurses, who play a pivotal role in patient care and hospital operations.

At present, Bhutan relies on nursing education programs offered abroad, and many nurses are recruited from neighboring countries, contributing to a dependency on external resources. This project aims to establish a local nursing training institute that will provide high-quality, affordable nursing education to Bhutanese students, ultimately reducing the reliance on foreign-trained healthcare workers.

The establishment of a Diploma Nursing Institute will directly contribute to improving the quality of healthcare in Bhutan by ensuring a consistent supply of trained nursing professionals across hospitals, clinics, and community health centers.

The institute will cater to both male and female students, primarily from Eastern and Central Districts to ensure equitable access to quality healthcare education. The institute will be equipped with qualified and committed faculty, well-established laboratories and classrooms with modern teaching learning tools.
